He began his real estate career in 1985 as a sales agent and auctioneer. In 1991, he obtained his General Certified Real Estate Appraiser credentials and began a career in rural property valuation, focused on grain and livestock farms with an emphasis on large-scale livestock operations, grain facilities, and rural commercial properties. He served eight years on the Missouri Appraisers Advisory Council, twelve years on the Missouri Real Estate Appraisers Commission, and over twenty years as Secretary for the Missouri Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. During that time he has mentored, trained, and obtained certification for over a dozen new appraisers.
