Scott was raised on a farm in Thayer County, Nebraska. Growing up, his family raised corn, milo, wheat and alfalfa. They also raised cattle, hogs and chickens. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in agriculture/animal science in 1979.
After graduation, Scott worked at Utica Co-Op in Utica, Nebraska, gaining experience in feed, agronomy and grain. During his time at Utica, he met his wife, Libby. Scott got into the farm management business with Farmers National Company in 1986. He acquired his real estate salesman license in 1987, broker’s license in 1989, Registered Appraiser license in 1998 and Certified General Appraiser license in 2008. He became an accredited farm manager through the ASFMRA in 1996.
Scott and his family moved to Fremont, Nebraska in 1996 and became part owner of Lallman, Paulson, and Brettmann, Inc. He was privileged to work with Keith Lallman and Jim Paulson for many years. In September of 2024, he sold his interest in the company and plans to work part time for 2 years, and then fully retire.
Scott has been a member of the ASFMRA since 1991. He has served on the Nebraska chapter legislative committee for as long as he can remember and was chairman of the committee for a while. He has also served on the Nebraska chapter college liaison committee for many years.
Scott and Libby have been married for 42 years and have three grown children. He enjoys hunting, farming, and following his son’s polka band.
