Randy Oertwich
LAND MANAGER, UFARM
Randy grew up on a typical diversified farm at the time, with six sisters and five brothers north of Stanton, Nebraska. His family had a hog farrowing operation and fed out all the weaned pigs, laying chickens, broiler chickens, mother cows, beef feedlots, and hand-milked dairy cows. They farmed 900 acres with around 80 acres of hand-stacked alfalfa.
Randy left the farm and worked at a pork processing plant for a year. He returned to farming in 1983 and formed a partnership with his father-in-law and continued farming in the Pilger area for the last 40 years. He joined the UFARM team in 2006 and along with some of the other farm managers purchased the company in 2010 from Great Western Bank.
Dedicated to serving, Randy was President of Pilger Fire and Rescue for over 20 years, Chairman of Pilger Planning Commission, Secretary/Treasurer of Stanton County Rural Fire District, and Founding Member of Pilger Housing Authority which built four apartments for the elderly.
Randy and his wife Lori have four grown children and six grandchildren. His hobbies include air boating, golf, upland hunting, and fly fishing. Some of their favorite charities are Omaha 180 and Autism Action Partnerships.
Professional affiliations include membership in AAPEX, the alumni group of participants of the Texas A&M Executive Program for Agricultural Producers. In 2023 was honored for 15 years of membership with the American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA)
TESTIMONIALS
“Randy was very helpful in securing a site for a potential economic development project in Stanton County! He understood the requirements from the prospect and was very responsive throughout this process. He is also very connected with landowners and has an excellent understanding of the area. We now have an operating data facility that will have a lasting economic impact on the area!”
