John Roach
Founder & CEO,

John Roach grew up on a small farm near Carlisle, Iowa and began his career in grain marketing with Lincoln Grain Company in 1973. He then moved to Farmer’s Grain and Livestock before founding Roach Ag Marketing in 1978 at Perry, Iowa.

Roach Ag has 6 Midwest offices with Roach Ag's corporate office located in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida since 2001. Roach Ag employs 40 people helping over 10,000 agri-business customers with crop and livestock marketing decisions and brokerage transactions.

John's son, Todd, is president of their award-winning publishing company and John works with their brokerage company.

In 2021 Roach Ag Financial was born to help farmers make surprisingly large tax-deductible contributions to their retirement. John absolutely loves helping farmers get big tax deductions without spending the money.

In 1995 John was honored to be one of sixteen brokers featured in the book, “Master Brokers”, by John Walsh. However, he is better known as the Senior Market Analyst on Market to Market where he has appeared since 1978.

Crop Insurance and Policy Updates for 2026

Nicholas D. Paulson
Gardner Hinderliter Professor,
University of Illinois

Nick Paulson grew up on a corn and soybean farm in southern Minnesota.  He received his MS and PhD degrees in Economics from Iowa State University. Paulson holds the Gardner Hinderliter Professorship in Farm Management in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also currently serves as the Associate Head, Interim Director of Graduate Studies, and Director of the farmdoc extension project in ACE. 

Paulson’s appointment incudes teaching, research, extension, and administrative responsibilities.  He has taught small business finance at the undergraduate level, agricultural finance and econometrics at the graduate level, and online graduate courses in risk and decision-making and modern issues in agriculture. He has received Department, College, and national awards for teaching quality and innovation. Paulson’s applied research program focuses on agricultural finance, farm and risk management, and agricultural policy.  As a member and Director of the award-winning farmdoc extension project team, he has contributed more than 650 extension articles to the farmdoc daily website. In 2019 he served as the Senior Economist for agriculture and trade on the Council of Economic Advisers at the White House.

Chris Zwiener
Product Lifecycle Manager,
Pioneer Seeds

Chris Zwiener is a Product Lifecycle Manager for Pioneer Seeds. He works with our research and sales teams managing the portfolio of Pioneer products sold in Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, eastern Kansas & southwest Missouri.

Chris has been with Pioneer for 20 years, with roles ranging for corn research, field agronomist to product manager. He participates on several development teams that have worked to improve tools used in research and the sales organization.

He grew up on a farm in central Nebraska. Chris received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and Master's degree from the University of Missouri. In his spare time, he enjoys watching his kids participate in sports and hunting.
