Greetings!  Land auctions were a little more active this week.  There was a total of 1,575 acres offered at auction, of those acres, there were 1,304 tillable acres.  I would describe the auction results as “steady”.  There were a couple of “no sales” last week.  On $/tillable CSR2 point, there were 4 sales that were below $100/tillable CSR2 point.  The range was from $80/tillable CSR2 point too $121/tillable CSR2 point.   A few of the highlights from last week:

  • 132 acres sold in Iowa County for $5,200/acre - CSR/CSR2 70/72
  • 352 acres sold in Iowa County in 4 tracts
    • Tract 1 - 138 acres sold $8,850/acre - CSR/CSR2 81/85
    • Tract 2 - 120 acres sold $6,625/acre - CSR/CSR2 56/55
    • Tract 3 - 74 acres sold $4,950/acre - CSR/CSR2 49/52
    • Tract 4 - 20 acres sold $$,000/acre - CSR/CSR2 57/55
  • 160 acres sold in Hancock County by the “Dirt Dealer” for $8,000/acre - CSR/CSR2 71/79
  • 117 acres sold in Grundy County by the “Dirt Dealer” for $7,850/acre - CSR/CSR2 80/86
  • 99 acres sold in Dallas County for $9,101/acre - CSR/CSR2 86/88
  • 106 acres sold in Appanoose County for $4,000/acre.  The balance of the tracts no sold.
  • 90 acres sold in Pocahontas County for $8,200/acre - CSR/CSR2 78/82
  • 118 WRP tract sold in Muscatine County for $200/acre

The auction activity is picking up but is still below activity from a year ago.

Check back next week for continued conversation on the auctions we’re seeing from around the state, and be sure to take a look at our September auction results that we just release last week.  Please make sure and hit the “like” button on Facebook and follow us on Twitter @PeoplesCompany and @TheLandTalker.
