Price/Acre - November 5-11, 2016

There were 37+ tracts of land sold at auction between November 5th - 11th.  During these auctions, there was a total of 3,050 +/- acres available for purchase and of those acres, 2,448 +/- were tillable acres.  Overall, the sale results were “good” but there were four tracts that were “no sales”.  On $/tillable CSR2 point, the price ranges from $87/tillable CSR2 point in central Iowa to $196/tillable CSR2 point in northwest Iowa.   

A few of the highlights from last week:

  • 66 acres sold in Sioux County for $13,000/acre with a CSR2 of 66.7
  • 120 acres sold in Jasper County for $12,600/acre with a CSR2 of 86.4
  • 117 acres sold in Black Hawk County for $9,900/acre with a CSR2 of 90.2
  • 110 acres sold in Des Moines County for 11,500/acre with a CSR2 of 86.4
  • 52 acres of pasture sold in Des Moines County for $4,300/acre
  • 40 acres of timber sold in Des Moines County for $4,350/acre
  • 160 acres of pasture and CRP sold in Jasper County for $5,800/acre

The week of November 12th through November 18th is the busiest week of this year for land auctions. Per our records, there are 55+ tracts of land available for purchase this week with a heavy concentration in central and north-central Iowa.
