Ben Zaitz, managing director with B. Zaitz & Sons, is set to deliver a keynote presentation during the 2016 Land Investment Expo on January 29, at the Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel.

Established in 1982, B. Zaitz & Sons is a diversified agricultural investment family office with a long history of acquiring farmland funded by the dairy business and row-crop production.

Mr. Zaitz is a third-generation dairy farmer from New Jersey, and known for combining agriculture and technology create more efficient markets. Bloomberg reported on his extensive experience in crop production, dairy farming, the cattle business and real estate development operations.

Through the mid-80s and 90s, virtually all of the farmland holdings in central New Jersey, Virginia and North Carolina were converted to development ground. In addition to creating Teays River Investments, a farmland investment and development company, Mr. Zaitz has been heavily involved with the management or acquisition of farmland on the East Coast, in the Midwest and the High Plains.

B. Zaitz & Sons has made a number of agriculture-related private equity investments. Recent ventures include cannabis operations located in Colorado, and an international seed potato business out of Lake of the Woods, Minnesota.

Mr. Zaitz is the original founder of the business-to-business website Farms.com. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University.
