Additional Info
Statement from the current owner - "Spending summers on this property, a part of our family for generations, stirs up memories that have shaped my life.
I think back to the 1960s, walking through endless rows of corn, finding arrowheads from a time long past, and watching the fields as they grow each day in the spring. Baling hay with my grandfather, uncles, and cousins was hard work, leaving our arms cut up, but there was no better feeling than pushing through the day, side by side with men I’ve looked up to all my life. That work, those moments—they stay with you, just like this land.
The timber was 20 acres, but to me, it felt like a massive forest. I remember my elders pointing out big whitetail bucks and other animals meandering through the farm. Down by the creek at the back of the property, I spent time with my mom, wading through the water. Every time I come back, I make my way there, renewing memories from more than half a century ago.
This farm hasn’t changed a bit in 60 years. It’s as rugged and beautiful as it ever was, a piece of land that holds its own in the countryside of West Branch, Iowa, with Iowa City just a short drive away, it’s a quiet retreat close to everything. It’s a place that’s become a part of me, and it always will be."
