Steve started at Pioneer Hi-Bred over 25 years ago after working at Iowa State University analyzing the U.S. Farm Bill, and the impacts of the formation of NAFTA & WTO. He has presented and consulted with farmers, businesspeople, and policymakers in every continent except for Antarctica. He serves on Federal Reserve, State, and Federal government committees. He the opportunities he has had to speak frequently on agricultural economics to the ASFMRA members. He grew up in rural Nebraska and lives in the Des Moines, Iowa area with his wife and two college-age sons; one goes to school in Iowa, and the other in Ohio.

Kurtis Charling is currently Vice President of Digital Product Management for Lindsay Corporation, a position he has held since March 2022. In this role, Charling oversees the digital and technical development of Lindsay’s company-wide suite of digital and IoT products, driving innovation across Lindsay’s digital solution portfolio within agriculture, transportation services, industrial lighting, oil and gas, and rail markets. Charling has been honored as the 2019 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Nebraska Engineer of the Year, was named to the 2018 Midland’s Business Journal 40 under 40, and was selected as a member of the Farm Credit Top 100, which acknowledges 100 individuals who are positively shaping rural communities and agriculture.

Mark McLaughlin

Mark McLaughlin is in Ankeny, IA. He is a Co-Founder of Farm Estate GPS, LLC and grew up on a family farm near Defiance, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined Farm Financial Strategies, Inc. in 2005 after he saw the value of his family going through the planning process. Shortly after, his father passed away in a farm accident. Because of their planning, the farm passed to the 5th generation and he now shares the land and hog operation with his farming brother. Mark understands the need for proactive strategies on both a personal and professional level.
