Real estate economist Dr. Mark Dotzour will return in January, to West Des Moines, Iowa, to present his customary “I don’t put lipstick on a pig” update on job growth, interest rates, commercial real estate values, the housing market and more.

Dr. Dotzour works to provide audiences with informational “tool kits” that helps them appreciate the current global, social and economic trends related to making both sound business and investment decisions. His remarks during the 2016 Land Investment Expo will center on topics of interest to virtually every facet of the real estate industry, including accountants, wealth managers, bankers, private foundations and private equity funds.

Following 18 years of service as Chief Economist of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University in College Station, Dr. Dotzour in 2015 announced that he would step down to focus all of his time and effort on analyzing current economic conditions – and communicating his analysis to others.

The research findings of Dr. Dotzour – who has written more than 90 articles for magazines and journals – have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Bloomberg’s Businessweek, and Money Magazine. With clients including banks, real estate investments trusts, construction firms, engineering companies, and commercial and residential brokerage firms, to name a few, he has given nearly 1,400 presentations to over 230,000 people.

After earning his Ph.D. in finance and real estate from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987, Dr. Dotzour was a tenured professor of real estate and finance at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, for 10 years.

The professional speaker now delivers 60 to 100 presentations year.
