Agri-Trend Group Founder and CEO Rob Saik will deliver the morning keynote address, January 29, at the Ninth Annual Land Investment Expo in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Saik, a serial entrepreneur who has an array of experiences in farming and global agribusiness, is knowledgeable in multiple facets of soil chemistry, plant physiology and crop nutrition. He will kick off the 2016 land conference with an energetic challenge of conventional thinking surrounding GMOs.

The professional agrologist and Certified Agricultural Consultant – who has been referred to as an “agricultural futurist” – considers threats to global food security while posing the question: “Will agriculture be allowed to feed 9 billion people?” by 2050.

Agri-Trend, founded in 1997, operates throughout the United States and Canada with affiliated projects in other parts of the world. The group’s focus is on agronomic production consulting, agricultural carbon offset trading, grain-marketing strategies, and the development of data management systems for farmers, clients and consultants in the agriculture industry.

“Stacking Genetic Engineering with other technologies such as variable rate precision application of fertilizers, crop protection products, seed and even water pave a path to even more environmental stewardship,” Saik wrote in an article for the “Socially Responsible Farmland Investment” white paper published by Peoples Company in 2015. “Simultaneous application of many technologies are helping today’s modern farmers increase water use efficiency, improve soils while providing the planet with a safe, affordable and sustainable food supply.”
