Brant joined Peoples Company in March 2022. He has spent the last 30 years as a fifth generation farmer in SW Kansas. He has a unique perspective and skillset from farming in the area formerly known as The Dust Bowl. Whether it be deciphering test holes, drilling wells, designing systems, or growing multiple irrigated crops. With 30 years of experience as an irrigated farmer and landowner, Brant has the experience to navigate the complexities of irrigation land ownership. Simultaneously, dryland farming on the high plains brings an appreciation for residue management and conservation practices.
Serving 18 years as a board director for two local banks provided an alternate vantage point to develop skills and techniques to navigate land management. Be that, reviewing new loans for approval, evaluating under performing loans for classification, or even managing the loan loss reserve balance. Additionally, witnessing the immeasurable value of having trade professionals involved in the process directly correlates to the success of the organization.
Brant has long enjoyed working with landowners as a tenant to help them navigate the complexity of modern farming practices, FSA programs, MPCI compliance, water rights, and a global marketplace. Thus, the transition into professional land management and utilizing his experience is a natural fit. In 2010, Winsome Ag Services was formed as a sideline to the farm. The custom farming Brant provided the area farmers needed room to grow, as well as a location for the Kansas Certified Seed and Channel Seed dealership to operate under. The land management aspect started in 2015 when a local dairy needed help navigating FSA and MPCI. After joining the ASFMRA in March 2020, and learning more about the profession, Brant enrolled in the courses and received his Accredited Farm Manager status in 2021.
