The Dirt Talk Weekly Iowa Land Auction prices, May 20th to May 26th, 2016

Greetings!   Land auctions in Iowa were down from last week.   There were a total of 145 acres offered at auction and, of those, 77 acres were tillable.  I would describe last week’s auctions results as “fairly stable”.

An 80-acre tract sold in Sioux County for $13,200/acre with a CSR/CSR2 of 68/90.  In Jefferson County, a 65 acre wooded tract sold for $2,450/acre.  There were no “no sales” last week.

The number of land auctions are down considerably across the state for the next 30 days.  There is a limited amount of tillable land for sale and this scarcity is keeping the land market up despite low grain prices.   It is still my opinion if you are thinking of selling farmland, the sooner you bring it to market the better.

Please check back next week to see what I will be discussing.  Also, be certain to view our April auction results and to “Like” us on Facebook.

Talk to you soon!  Thanks, Jim “the Land Talker”
